Cloudflare Turns CI Pipelines into TypeScript Workflows
Cloudflare has released cloudflare/ci, a CI SDK that defines pipelines in TypeScript on top of Cloudflare Workflows, giving each step durable retries and replay, concurrent steps by default and Sandbox snapshot caching. It targets the Workers runtime and depends on Artifacts, still in private beta, so the transferable lesson is the durable-step model rather than a drop-in CI replacement. By Mark Silvester

Buildpacks Move the Container Hardening Control Point Away From the Dockerfile
Cloud Native Buildpacks, which graduated within the CNCF in July 2026, move base image choice out of per-service Dockerfiles into a single builder owned by platform engineering, enabling fleet-wide patching. BellSoft's hardened Paketo builder is the latest sign that vendors now treat the builder, not the Dockerfile, as the container security control point. By Mark Silvester

Beyond Consensus: The Fragmentation of AI Policy Across the Linux Ecosystem
The AI policies across the Linux ecosystem are very heterogeneous, ranging from the GCC’s restrictiveness, the Linux kernel’s pragmatism, to the more open disclosure-based utility model of Kubernetes' landscape. From core infrastructure to high-level orchestration, these distinct approaches highlight a shared commitment: ensuring the human maintainer remains the indispensable guardian of the code. Article: Securing MCP in Production: Defense-in-Depth Beyond the Gateway
This article presents a defense-in-depth approach for securing Model Context Protocol (MCP) deployments in production. It outlines four architectural control layers: safe execution, management infrastructure, outbound trust, and semantic integrity, arguing that production security requires enforcement beyond the gateway at the earliest trustworthy control points. The Path to Sovereign Data: Challenges and Priorities in Local-First Computing
A panel on data ownership challenged the definition of "ownership," arguing it must extend beyond simple account control to include structural independence, interoperability, and community governance. Speakers like Zenna Fiscella, Paul Frazee, Boris Mann, and Robin Berjon emphasised the need for shared standards, unbundled platforms, and better tools to support user sovereignty. By Olimpiu Pop

Article: Trade-Offs in Multi-Region Architectures: Latency vs. Cost
Adding cloud regions changes latency and cost in ways simple math can't capture. This article presents a framework from multiple launches: decompose your latency budget before committing to infrastructure, choose deployment patterns by consistency and traffic profile, and optimize before expanding. A phased approach cut latency 35% through routing alone, before a new region brought it under 60ms. By Uttara Asthana

AlloyDB Ships Proxy Models That Replace LLM Calls with Local Inference Inside the Database
Google shipped AlloyDB AI functions GA with a proxy model architecture that trains a lightweight local model from LLM outputs, then runs queries at database speed without external calls. Smart batching delivers 2,400x throughput improvement. The proxy model reaches 100,000 rows per second in preview, but benchmark numbers apply only to ai.if in internal testing. By Steef-Jan Wiggers
